Americans for Prosperity urged the Trump administration recently to drop its planned tariff on imported vehicles of up to 25 percent.
AFP noted that tariffs on foreign vehicles don’t make American auto companies competitive. Instead, they make cars harder for Americans to afford.
“More expensive cars mean more barriers to opportunity for the average family and worker who relies on an affordable car to support a small business, commute to work, visit loved ones, and shuttle kids to school and soccer practice,” said AFP President Tim Phillips.
The Trump administration should work toward ending all tariffs, which hurt businesses, consumers and workers. Individuals and businesses, not government bureaucrats and politicians, should guide trade decisions.
