Our Position

Americans for Prosperity is urging Congress to pursue policies that promote free and open trade for our country. America is better off when we engage in trade with other nations. Trade creates jobs, brings quality goods to our shelves and fosters a strong economy. Tariffs and other protectionist policies close off our economy, destroy jobs and rig the economy to benefit politically connected businesses at the expense of everyone else. Congress should work to reduce, not raise, barriers to trade.
